About Us
Welcome to our framing workshop at Sandhill Barn in Washington. We are a small family business with a 60 year history of picture framing.
I, Nicholas Gentle and my wife Margaret set up our new workshop in Washington in September 2007, having previously spent 35 years framing when we were trading as The Gentle Gallery in Steyning High Street. We also had a small framing outlet in the Bishopric in Horsham for 20 years, prior to November 2007.
My father, Basil opened the gallery in 1972 having been taught the trade of picture framing by my Grandfather. I joined the family firm in 1972 and in 1995 gained the Fine Art Trade Guild's prestigious Commended Framer Award, awarded to framers who have attained a standard of distinction in the the trade of picture framing.
So, we have brought a wealth of experience and expertise in all aspects of picture framing to our new workshop in Washington, which has been handed down over three generations and we promise to do our utmost to ensure customer satisfaction with the care we offer our customers and their artwork.
Since moving to Washington, we have been able to offer our customers a considerably more attractive price due to our location off the High Street.
We are happy to offer advice on all aspects of framing your artwork, from framing your child's first painting or school photo to offering advice and suggestions for framing a 17th Century masterpiece or the latest signed football shirt.
Anything is undertaken and if required, we are able to offer a next day framing service.
